This celebration isn’t just about recognizing the act of breastfeeding. It’s about highlighting its impact on child survival, growth, and development, and on the overall well-being of families in our communities.
More Than Nourishment
Breastfeeding provides infants with the complete nutrients they need for healthy growth. It also protects them from common childhood illnesses, lowers the risk of malnutrition, and promotes cognitive development. Beyond the physical benefits, it strengthens the emotional bond between mother and child.
For many families in our communities, breastfeeding is more than a choice—it’s a lifeline. It helps mothers care for their babies even when other resources are scarce, giving children the best possible start in life.

Supporting Mothers, Building Communities
At Bountiful Children’s Foundation – Philippines, we recognize that supporting mothers is essential in our mission to reduce child malnutrition. This month, our coordinators are leading health lessons focused on breastfeeding education—sharing knowledge, busting myths, and encouraging mothers to continue their breastfeeding journey.
Through these efforts, we’re not only improving child health but also building stronger, more resilient communities. When mothers are informed and supported, entire families benefit, and children grow up healthier and happier.

Strength in Every Mother
We celebrate the resilience of mothers who continue to nurture their children despite challenges. Many balance work, household responsibilities, and childcare, yet still choose to provide the best nourishment for their little ones.
When Cheryken joined the Bountiful Children’s Foundation – Philippines program, she was six months pregnant with her first child, Hyrum. From the start, she received valuable nutrition support and health lessons that prepared her for the challenges of motherhood.
Hyrum
After Hyrum was born, doctors told Cheryken that her baby was suffering from chronic malnutrition. It was a heartbreaking diagnosis for a first-time mother, but she refused to give up.
Drawing on the knowledge she gained from Bountiful’s lessons, she committed to exclusive breastfeeding and gave her son the consistent care he needed.
Looking Ahead
As we highlight Breastfeeding Month, we move forward with renewed commitment. Our role is not only to provide food supplements but also to equip families with the knowledge and confidence to raise healthy children. Together, we are nurturing not just healthier children, but stronger communities filled with hope for generations to come.
