Our Impact

Nearly half of the children in Guatemala under the age of 5 suffer from chronic malnutrition. Bountiful Children partners with local leaders to deliver targeted supplements and education to these children’s mothers, in the areas where it’s needed most. Here’s what we’ve accomplished so far, with help from people like you:

Our Approach

We use WHO standards to evaluate the health of children under the age of 5, pregnant women, and nursing mothers, allowing us to identify victims of malnutrition. Once enrolled in our program, these children and mothers receive life-sustaining nutritional supplements, and access to vital health and nutrition education. Through consistent follow-up, we monitor their progress to ensure that every individual has the necessary means to survive and flourish.

Protecting Children is Our Priority

We believe that every child has the right to grow up safe, healthy, and free from harm. That’s why we have a comprehensive Child Protection Policy in place, aligned with international child rights standards and Guatemala’s national laws.

All of our staff, volunteers, partners, and visitors are trained and held accountable to strict codes of conduct. We enforce clear procedures for preventing, identifying, and responding to any form of abuse or exploitation.

Child protection is not optional—it is a shared responsibility, woven into every level of our work. We strive to create nurturing environments where children are respected, valued, and heard.

Our Team

We rely on local coordinators to lead our efforts on the ground. These volunteers—many of them mothers themselves—are deeply rooted in their communities, bringing vital insight and trust to their work.

Since our organization started operations in Guatemala in 2008, our program has expanded to 13 communities. Each site is supported by a trained coordinator who monitors child growth, distributes supplements, and provides health education. In 2024, we fully transitioned day-to-day operations to our local team, ensuring a more direct and sustainable impact in the fight against malnutrition.
