The Fight Malnutrition Club at Brigham Young University Provo hosted a truly transformative event—the Hunger Banquet—to raise funds for Bountiful Children. This wasn’t your typical fundraiser; the banquet offered an eye-opening poverty simulation designed to help participants understand global inequality.

Upon arrival, attendees were randomly assigned to one of three social classes:
🌎 Lower Class: Sat on blankets, receiving minimal food—reflecting the struggles of over 600 million people living in extreme poverty.
🏘️ Middle Class: Ate at long tables with average meals.
💼 Upper Class: Dined at fancy round tables with a luxurious spread.
Everyone had the chance to return for seconds later, but the message was clear—the disparity was powerful to experience.
The evening spotlighted the Philippines, a key area of Bountiful Children’s outreach. Adelyn, a devoted BYU student and former coordinator for the region, shared her touching experiences, giving attendees a heartfelt understanding of how collective giving changes lives. Other speakers highlighted the critical work Bountiful Children is doing and the immense needs in these communities.

The event also featured an exciting raffle and auction thanks to generous donors like Crumbl Cookies, Improv Broadway, and Scera Theatre, alongside volunteers who contributed BYU basketball tickets and homemade blankets. The result? Over $2,000 raised to support malnourished children!
Attendance skyrocketed, with ticket sales up 300% compared to last year—a true testament to the growing passion for this cause. The evening left a lasting impression on attendees, many of whom expressed enthusiasm about returning next year.
