    Gifts of Stock

Gifts of publicly traded stock that has increased in value and that you have owned for more than one year may provide greater tax benefits than donating cash. You can get a charitable deduction for the full value of the stock and avoid paying any capital gain tax.

If you hold publicly traded stock that has gone up in value, you can get a charitable deduction for the full value of the stock and avoid paying any capital gain tax. EXAMPLE: You donate 100 shares of Company X that you purchased two years ago for a total of $3,000 but which had a value of $13,000 on the day the donation was made. By donating the stock directly to the Bountiful Children’s Foundation, you get a charitable deduction of $13,000 and you avoid paying tax on the $10,000 capital gain you would have recognized if you had sold the stock.

CAUTION: You must give the stock directly to the Bountiful Children’s Foundation to avoid paying tax on the capital gain. Don’t sell the stock and give the money to the Bountiful Children’s Foundation or you won’t get to exclude your capital gain. You would still get the charitable deduction, but not the capital gain exclusion.

Here is the information needed to donate stock to the Bountiful Children’s Foundation:

Brokerage House: Charles Schwab and Co.
Account Name: The Liahona Children’s Nutrition & Education Foundation
    Account Number: 3824-4227
    DTC Number: 0164, Code 40

Mailing Address: PO Box 1415, Spanish Fork, UT 84660

Please email shaela.avery@bountifulchildren.org when you initiate your stock transfer so we can properly acknowledge
your gift with a written acknowledgement to confirm receipt of your gift that you can use for your tax records.

Thank you for considering this important way to support the Bountiful Children’s Foundation!!

    Bountiful's Pledge Regarding Community‑Specific Donations

Bountiful encourages donors to support specific communities and endeavors to organize and serve those communities. However as local needs change, Bountiful may shift donations to other communities or uses while continuing to support the donor-designated communities. When or if a donor-specified community no longer is sustainable, then those donors will be advised of the circumstances and available options.
