Child Wasting: 45.4 million
Wasting in children is the life-threatening result of poor nutrient intake and/or disease. Children suffering from wasting have weakened immunity, are susceptible to long-term developmental delays and face an increased risk of death, particularly when wasting is severe. These children require urgent treatment and care to survive. In 2020, 45.4 million children under 5 were affected by wasting, of which 13.6 million were severely wasted.

Miryan Elizabeth Sanabria Serrano
Community Coordinator
I was born in the city of Horqueta, Department of Concepción. As a child, we moved to the city of Pedro Juan Caballero, Department of Amambay, where I grew up in a family of 6 members, my older brother and two older sisters, and my parents. In the year 2000 we learned about the Church through my aunt Amelia Duarte. We were baptized on August 5 of the same year and it was a wonderful experience because we all got baptized as a family. We had the great blessing of being sealed as a family on October 3, 2002 in the Asunción Paraguay Temple. I married a returned missionary for time and eternity in 2012. My current calling is president of the Young Women of the Concepción 2nd Branch. It is a great privilege for me to be able to be a part of this wonderful work of helping others to meet their goals and develop their talents and personal progress.
I found out about Bountiful Children 5 years ago through a call from the district president who invited me to be part of the Foundation with the help of Sister Natividad. In my time thus far as coordinator, I have felt great joy in helping children in need and showing love and diligence in serving as coordinator. I am also very grateful for the support of my husband Iván for helping me measure and weigh the children and make the registration in the Foundation’s application.
I know that our Heavenly Father loves us, that Jesus Christ is our Savior. I know that the Church is true. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know that the prophet Russell M. Nelson receives revelation from God. Thank you again for this opportunity to help as a coordinator at the Bountiful Children Foundation.
Bountiful's Community Coordinators
Community coordinators serve with Bountiful as volunteers. They organize other local volunteers and together conduct screenings, train families, distribute locally-purchased supplements, and follow up on infant development.
