Sonia Soledad Martinez Goitia

Community Coordinator

My name is Sonia Soledad Goitia de Martinez. My mother was baptized when she was 9 months pregnant with me. Two weeks later I was born. I grew up in the church. When I was 21, I served in the Bolivia Cochabamba mission and after I got married in the Lima Peru Temple. I have 4 children, all of whom have served missions. I have a beautiful granddaughter of 9 months.

Thanks to my service in the Church as president of the Relief Society of my Stake, Sister Flor Tapia contacted me to work with the children of the Foundation. Since then with the greatest joy I help as coordinator of my Stake working with the mothers and children who are part of Bountiful Children. I am very blessed to be surrounded by children almost all of my life because I am a teacher of primary school children. I see how essential it is to take care of them as valuable children of our Heavenly Father.

I thank the Foundation for entrusting me with such a beautiful responsibility. I am grateful for the love that donors show towards our little ones who need support.

Bountiful's Community Coordinators

Community coordinators serve with Bountiful as volunteers. They organize other local volunteers and together conduct screenings, train families, distribute locally-purchased supplements, and follow up on infant development.

Visiting Guayacana

BYU research professors and students traveled to Guayacana to take height and weight measurements of the children there and instruct on basic public health practices. Here are photos from their trip:
