Hunger Banquet in Provo Utah

On September 29, 2014, the Bountiful Children’s Foundation held its second annual Hunger Banquet at the Utah Valley Convention Center in Provo, Utah. The event was successful, with 325 guests in attendance and a significant amount of donations raised.

Dinner was provided for the guests based on the ticket they drew as they entered the banquet. 20% of the tickets were high-income. They were seated at a round table and served a delicious pasta dinner. Middle-income tickets were drawn by 30% of those in attendance. Middle-income guest were given a meal of beans and rice and sat at a long table. 50% of the guests drew a low-income ticket, sat on the floor and ate a bowl of plain rice. These percentages are based on recent world hunger surveys and reflect an accurate picture of world poverty.

John Canaan performed two vocal and guitar numbers. Three coordinators from Peru, Guatemala, and the Philippines addressed the audience and gave reports of the foundation’s work in their local areas. Elder Uceda from the First Quorum of the Seventy spoke on welfare progress in his area and his gratitude for those who volunteer and give to the Bountiful Children’s Foundation.
