Bolivia - History and Demographics
Bolivia is a land-locked country located in western-central South America. It is bordered to the north and east by Brazil, to the southeast by Paraguay, to the south by Argentina, to the southwest by Chile, and to the northwest by Peru. One-third of the country is within the Andean mountain range. Bolivia remains the second poorest country in South America. The climate of Bolivia varies drastically from one eco-region to the other, from the tropics in the eastern llanos to a polar climate in the western Andes.
Bountiful Children in Bolivia
Bolivia has the worst childhood malnutrition in South America. Bountiful Children began their program in 2014 in the highlands and jungles of Bolivia where there are high rates of malnutrition. We give milk powder and Sprinkles. Sprinkles is a micronutrient supplement produced by the World Health Organization which supplies adequate Vitamin A, iron, and zinc to growing children). We encourage mothers to go to their local health clinics for Cerelac from the state programs, but that aid is only given to children under 3 years of age.
